Looking for a workout and a community?

Most of us are looking for a place to push hard, breathe deeply and belong. You can find that in a canoe.

New Hope Canoe Club Ministry Atlantic is a faith-based Hawaiian outrigger canoe club in Lewes and Rehoboth, Delaware. We paddle for fitness, fellowship, competition and service, guided by the spirit of Aloha. All are welcome.

Why do we paddle?

We see something bigger out here.

Romans 1:20 points to creation as a way we experience something greater than ourselves. On the water, we notice beauty, experience awe and feel connected to God’s creation.

Philippians 4:6–8 invites us to trade anxiety for gratitude and receive peace beyond understanding. The water helps us paddle in that posture: thankful and open to what is good.

The spirit of Aloha calls us to paddle with kindness, humility, patience and unity. In the canoe, we practice Ahonui, patience, in the rhythm of the paddle and Lokahi, unity, in a crew that moves as one.

Is it more than paddling?

Yes. Paddling is where it starts. Serving is where it goes. New Hope Canoe Club Ministry Atlantic serves the community through outreach with the Lewes Children’s Beach House, beach cleanups, Little League sponsorship at Canalfront Park and local service projects with partner churches. Through our Crisis Response Ministry partnership with The Crossing Church, members also help communities recover after disaster. On the water and on shore, we seek to live the spirit of Aloha through service.
